Cap de la Chèvre and its breathtaking scenery
A hike from east to west

Route on the GR34
On the west coast, the Iroise Sea and the wind create a Breton backdrop, with vegetation as sparse as heather.
While on the east coast, the sun reflects off heavenly waters and coves are outlined by maritime pines.
It’s best to start on the east coast and finish on the west, so that you start out with the morning sun shining on the Bay of Douarnenez and the cliffs, and it stays with you as you pass along the west side until you return to the campsite.
Take your time on this hike, and enjoy the scenery.
Heritage to discover
Must-see tours
Try to make a detour for a timeless visit to one of Cap de la Chèvre’s typical villages, with their “penty” shutters and pink, purple or blue hydrangeas.
These are former fishing villages, often consisting of a small house with outbuildings for the animals.
Anecdotally, these houses have always had yellow, white, blue and red shutters, because when the men repainted their boats, they used the leftover paint for the shutters of their houses.
