Visit Camaret-sur-Mer

Discover Camaret

Camaret-Sur-Mer, a former langoustine fishing port that has retained all its period charm thanks to its wreck boats along the jetty.

Camaret needs to be visited twice, once in the morning when the sun fills the quays and the artists’ quarter, and once in the evening on the Pen Hir and Toulinguet points for sunsets over the sea.

Heritage to discover

Must-see tours

To start your visit to Camaret, there’s nothing better than strolling along the harbor to the famous Tour Vauban, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Rocamadour chapel, Camaret’s landmarks.

Chapelle de Rocamadour: Listed as a historic monument since 1935, this chapel has been on the verge of demolition on several occasions, most notably in 1694 when a cannonball destroyed part of its bell tower, still visible today.

In 1910, the roof was destroyed by fire, and Francois Keraudren, a marine carpenter, rebuilt it.

Tour Vauban: This 330-year-old lady is the symbol of Camaret, even if, like her neighbor, she suffered from English cannonballs in 1694.
It was thanks to her that the attackers were repulsed.
